Tacoma Public Library: Hip-Hop as an art form workshop
Thursday, Jan. 19: Hip-Hop Music as an Art Form
The Tacoma Public Library could not have found someone better to host workshop series than Quincy Henry. The workshop is targeted towards individuals interested in the art and business world of hip-hop.
Behind the mic, Quincy is known as Q-Dot. This well-known event organizer and local entertainer boasts of having an extremely impressive resume that is comprised of impressive feats that have earned him an impressive name. Q-Dot kick-started the workshop on the January 19, 2012 catering for the ages of 13 to 20. This took place at the downtown Main library.
To showcase the importance and seriousness of the workshop, it has been dubbed as Hip-Hop Music as an Art Form. The aim of this workshop was to ensure that those interested in the industry get the appropriate knowledge that is needed to propel them into the right direction of growth. During the instructions, Q-Dot focused on teaching those in attendance how they could ensure that their songs are heard and why education is an important tool.
Ideally, it is expected that this was going to be an eye opener for young people who want to pursue a career in the music industry. It sought to educate them on the grounds that need to be covered in order to succeed and what it takes to make it to the top.
More importantly, Q-Dot also sought to explore the importance of education, since many young people tend to ignore it assuming that they do not need education in the music industry.
The class started at 2pm, with registration for the class also required. Those interested are supposed to register at the Tacoma Main Library- the Olympic Room starting at 2 to 8pm.
Alternatively they can also register online at tacomapubliclibrary.org. For those interested in the industry, this opportunity cannot be missed.
